About Us:

The 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) offers many programs for the youth of District 518.  21st CCLC is a grant- funded program. The 21st Century Community Learning Centers program is intended to, 1) create community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities for children; 2) offer students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs before and/or after-school or during hours when school is not in session; and 3) offer literacy and other educational services to families of participating students.

The 21st CCLC office is located in Prairie Elementary, but also offers services and activities in Worthington Middle School.

Our Programs:

The 21st CCLC offers a variety of programs for the students in District 518. One program we offer is Quest classes for students in grades K-8. Quest classes are enrichment programs for students in grades K-8. A snack and transportation are provided for all Quest activities. These courses are set up on a Quarterly basis. To see our current offerings, click on Quest Classes.

21st CCLC also offers an Academic Assistance Program for students in grades 1-8. The focus of the program is math and reading, as well as offering enrichment activities. Students must be referred by their classroom teachers and must meet established criteria to participate. The program meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15- 5:15 at both Prairie Elementary and Worthington Middle School. Currently, our program serves over 300 students.

Parent Involvement is also a component of 21st Century. Our bilingual parent liaisons work with the families with students in our program. Their goal is to enable parents to better understand and work with their children and the education system. We currently employ two Spanish -speaking Liaisons and one Lao-speaking Liaison.  For Parent Liaison contact information, click on the Staff link.
