Band Award Opportunities for 2007-2008

First Quarter

Students will be participating in the King Turkey Day parade (September 15, 2007). 2 Band Awards will be given for marching in the parade. In addition, 1 Band Award will be given for passing a marching fundamental test and 1 Band Award will be given for passing a memorization test over “La Pantera”. All other awards are from the Band Awards System.

Second Quarter

Students will perform at the Fall Indoor Marching Concert (November 12, 2007) for 2 Band Awards. Students will also perform at the Middle School Holiday Concert (December 16, 2007) for 2 Band Awards. Students will also have the opportunity to perform “seasonal solos and ensembles” for various churches and community functions. 2 Band Award will be given for performing a solo and 1 Band Award will be given for performing in an ensemble. Students can receive Band Awards for one solo or 2 ensembles. All other awards are from the Band Awards System.

Third Quarter

Students will perform at the Winter Concert (February 19, 2008) for 2 Band Awards. 8^th Grade students will have the opportunity (if nominated) to receive up to 3 Band Awards for participating in the Luverne Honor Band Festival in February (1 Award for selection, 1 award for passing a playing test over the music, and 1 award for attending and participating). Jazz Band students will also receive 1 Band Award for participating in the Lamberton Jazz Festival (March 25, 2008) and/or 1 Band Award for the Augustana Jazz Festival (TBA-2008). All other awards are from the Band Awards System.

Fourth Quarter

Students will perform at the Spring Concert (May 20, 2008) for 2 Band Awards. The final 2 weeks of the quarter will be used to teach/review marching fundamentals. Marching Awards will be: 1 Award for fundamentals, 1 Award for roll step, and 1 Award for attention position for a total of 3 Marching Awards. All other awards are from the Band Awards System.
