Worthington Middle School Summer Band 2007

Information & Registration Form (August 6* – August 23, 2007)

The Middle School Summer Band Program will start August 6, 2007 and run for three weeks instead of the usual four weeks through August 23, 2007 on Mondays through Thursdays.  This is to help accommodate the HS Marching Band who is using the MS Band Room due to asbestos removal at the HS.  All lessons and rehearsals will be held at the Worthington Middle School Band Room.  This year we are again combining the 6th, 7th and 8th grades for marching, so all students will be eligible for the ValleyFair trip (August 23).  All band students will receive a copy of the marching music (La Pantera) before the end of school.  All percussionists will also get a copy of the drum cadence.

 

FEES:   All students participating in the summer program are required to pay a $50.00 participation fee.  This fee is due with the registration form by June 1.  Students using school-owned instruments will also be required to pay an annual $30.00 rental/maintenance fee.  This check should be made out separately and made payable to Worthington Middle School.

 

REGISTRATION:  Registrations need to be in by June 1 so arrangements can be made for the ValleyFair trip.  Please place the registration form and a check payable to “Worthington Middle School Summer Band” in a sealed envelope with your student’s name on it.  Return it to Mr. Andersen (Middle School) or Mrs. Jensen (Prairie) by June 1.

 

VALLEYFAIR:  Please circle “yes” or “no” on the registration form whether your student is able to attend so tickets may be ordered.  More information will be available at summer band.

 

BAND SHIRTS: We will be making a uniform change this year for the marching band.  For the Turkey Day parade and the Fall Indoor Marching Show we will be wearing black pants and a red polo shirt (new this year).  We will also wear the polo shirt for our trip to Valley Fair.  Please fill in the size of the shirt needed (adult sizes) and include a separate check or pay when the shirts arrive.  Cost is $10.00, payable to “WMS Band Activity Account”.

 

*SCHEDULE:  The following schedule is a change from the “tentative” schedule sent out in June.  This is to better accommodate the schedules of the WHS students who will be assisting with summer band.
