“What’s Going On”

*SEVENTH GRADE*

During each quarter in seventh grade music, students will study the music of the 1950’s, 1960’s and 1970’s. We concentrate on musicians and groups like the Beatles who are especially important to our popular culture. Along with listening, timelines, music facts and historical facts, we are introducing basic guitar skills. For those of you who have guitars at home and might want to try to “play along”, we are learning E minor, A, A7, G and D. Hopefully we will be able to play some of the songs we are learning about in music class.

*SIXTH GRADE*

Sixth grade music classes study various aspects of rhythm and beat. This means that the students will get to be more than “armchair drummers”. They are getting the opportunity to play percussion instruments while learning to “feel the groove”.
