"Project Ignition - Distractions are Deadly - Accept the Challenge, Be the Change" was the thought provoking program presented at Fulda High School on Thursday afternoon by the Nobles County Integration Collaborative Youth Diversity Corps, Six Steps Hip Hop, and Dynamic 507.

Youth involved in the presentation were from area high schools, including Fulda High School. Also involved in the presentation were State Farm Insurance agents Jason Vote and Kevin Lease, Officer Fritz of the Worthington Police Department and Sergeant McCarthy from the Nobles County Sheriff's Office.

"Distractions" was the name of the first skit presented which depicted a young teen that was running late for an engagement. Once in her vehicle and driving, she glanced in the mirror and decided that she must apply makeup. In her attempt to glamorize, she poked herself in the eye with the mascara brush which caused the first distraction. She picked up her first passenger who wanted to demonstrate the new cell phone that she had received that day. Another friend is picked up from work, bringing along pizza to be eaten in the car. Another insisted they listen to her brand new CD and several passengers began fiddling with the radio. As each passenger enters the car, more and more distractions were added. The skit ended with statistics that stated: "The chance of an accident occurring increases by 26% with one passenger, 82% with two passengers, and to 282% with three passengers or more."
