About Our Teachers

Mr. Burns

Picture of middle school teacher, Mr. Burns.Scott Burns is a Worthington native. After graduation, I attended Worthington Community College, and then went on to Mankato State University. At Mankato I earned a degree in history and obtained my MN teacher license.

I have had a wide variety of teaching experiences over the course of my career. I began teaching in 1986 at a private school in Savage, MN. My wife Karen and I then moved to the iron range, where I taught history in Tower, MN. We returned to southwestern MN in 1998 when Karen took a position at Worthington Regional Hospital. I went back to school and completed a special education licensure. I then taught in the Windom school system for six years as a special education teacher.

Since 2005 I have been teaching at Worthington Middle School. In my current assignment I am teaching intervention reading and math. This is to help students catch up, or assist in the process of finding students who qualify for special education supports. I am also teaching two specially created sections of history / civics for students that are new to the United States. I also help with peer mediation and our weekly video announcements.

Mr. Regnier

My name is Blake Regnier. I grew up in a town in Northern Minnesota called North Branch, and I graduated from North Branch High School. I attended the University of St. Thomas and earned a BA in English before completing my teaching license through St. Thomas’s graduate program. I am also currently in the process of obtaining my Masters of English Literature through Fort Hays State University in Kansas. Up until the 2018-2019 school year, I have been teaching and living in the Saint Paul area. I am excited to be moving into such a welcoming and diverse community, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the Middle School as an Interventionist. When I’m not working with students, I love to spend time with my Beagle, Emmy. I also really enjoy cooking and baking, and I will never pass up the opportunity to learn new recipes.

I have taught grades 5-8 in the areas of math, science, reading, and social studies. No matter what the grade or subject area it is always exciting to see the moment when students are able to show they understand something new.

During my free time I enjoy outdoor activities including gardening, camping, and nature photography.
