About Our Teachers

Ms. Becker

I am the new EL teacher at the Worthington Area Learning Center.  For many years I have been involved with the immigrant/refugee community in Mankato, Minnesota, both as a teacher and as a volunteer with community projects.  I have always been passionate about working with under-represented individuals and supporting their goals to become academically successful.  During the school week I live in Worthington and enjoy the community's diversity and friendliness, and on weekends I return to my home in Mankato.  I have three adult children and am very proud of them and the interesting life paths that they've chosen to pursue.

Mrs. Varley

Hello! My name is Mrs. Varley and I teach kindergarten language learners. I graduated from Iowa State University and Southwest Minnesota State University with an elementary education degree, ESL endorsement, and Masters in educational leadership. This is my 18th year as a teacher. Each year brings new adventures and every day is fun! I have two sons in high school and I enjoy attending their activities. I’ve lived in Minnesota for 18 years but I’ve lived in Ohio, Missouri, Iowa, and South Dakota too!
