Contemporary American History is an elective class in ISD 518. The class is one quarter in length, and students receive 1/2 credit. It can be used as a Social Studies elective, or as a general elective.
Students will take a comprehensive in-depth look at three time periods in recent American history. They will examine the historical record, read some literature associated with each period, and come to a greater understanding of what these periods meant to America.
Time periods include: The Battle for Civil Rights, The Vietnam War, and The Watergate Scandal.
