 Da Alc Prom

By David Dawson

Last Friday, May 12, was the ALC Prom.  It was the shizzle, and curse any of you who didn’t show up! You missed one heck of a party.

Cynthia and Javier were showing off some sweet moves. Everyone was awestruck by Jookie’s beautiful dress. John “SpillySpillman tried to seclude himself in a corner, but failed when everyone joined him there.

There was pizza from Pizza Ranch and Pizza Hut (many thanks to both), an endless supply of drinks and snacks, and DJ Corey Paplow rocked the joint. And there were even door prizes….a lot of door prizes.

Ryan and Dez were crowned King and Queen

Jookie and Jimmy were not crowned

King and Queen

Ryan White “My Buddy” and Desiree Briski made Prom King and Queen. And even ex-students from the ALC, such as Serg, Natasha, Rodney and Shanna all made an appearance as well.

In the end, Mrs. Schreiber and her class of hard-working students all worked double time, so if you see Schreiber make sure she knows what a great job she did.

Pictures you see on the following page were taken by Mr. Hyvari and Jimmy Dinh. The Web video was shot by Hyvari and several students, and Mr. Lowry (Lowdizzle) put it together.  If you want one of the dvd’s, talk to “The Lowdizzle Master.”

Boxing is my Dream

By Miguel Moreno

Boxing is a great sport.  My dream is to be a boxer because I have always wanted to be a famous person and I look up to Oscar De La Hoya.  I plan to reach this goal by finding a good trainer and then just keep pumping iron so I can last in all my matches.

I would like to be famous so that I can earn  respect for my family.  I would also like to help a lot of the people who don’t have a decent place to live and enough food to eat.  I would like to help this world be a better place than what it is know.

I look up to Oscar because he is a perfect example of a true champ.  The thing I like about him is that he never gives up when he has a boxing match.  He concentrates on what he is doing.  He also never talks bad about other boxers, and that is another perfect example of a true boxer.  When he is in the ring he does what he has to do.  He isn’t into games like other boxers who take everything as a joke.

I will need to find a good trainer who can train me. I will tell him to do what he has to do so that I can accomplish me goal.  I will do whatever it takes and I’m sure I will be good if I try my hardest.

Another way to accomplish my goal is by working out. Every day that comes by I have to stay in shape and watch the things that I eat so that I can stay in the fighting shape.  Most importantly, I need to train every day for at least 2-3 hours.

Boxing is a great sport.  It is a sport in which if you work hard you can become famous.  There are many role models such as Oscar de la Hoya.  Look for me in the ring some day.

Moving to Mexico

By Cynthia Carabantes

Mexico is a beautiful country. My dream is to move to Mexico because I want to be with my family where life is more tranquil.  I plan to reach this goal by graduating high school and by starting to work and earning money.

I really want to go to Mexico to see my family because I feel like if I barely know them and I want to share all those festivals with them.  I also want to be there because I really want to be with my grandparents.  All four of them are alive right now.

Mexico is very tranquil.  During the daytime, everyone is cleaning and working.  You can hear the sounds of the birds, the dogs, the roosters, and the sounds of the tractors. In the evening you get ready to go to the plaza with your friends and cousins. You walk around and hear the music in the plaza you see friendly people.

Right now I’m focusing on graduating from graduating high school by catching on my credits.  I’m also working so I could start earning money so I can go to Mexico.

I’m planning on setting up an account where I can put the money I earn.  I won’t touch this money until I’m eighteen years old and have finished school.  Then I’ll use it to go to Mexico.

Thoughts on the Prom

By Lety Heredia

The prom was a blast.  It was really fun, at least that is what I thought.  A lot of other people thought so, too.

Cynthia and I arrived  first and it was kind of fun because we got to play around for a while.  We were models for a while, too, because we were testing the spots for where people were going to take the pictures.

By the time everybody started to arrive we were all kind of hungry.  There weren’t that many people but we enjoyed our time.  For dinner we had pizza.  It was really good.

Then it was time for the fun stuff like dancing time.  One of the first songs the DJ played was Gasolina. We all enjoyed prom and we hope to have another one of these.
