Mission Statement
The mission of District 518 Community Education is to engage people in lifelong learning; enrich lives through shared experiences; and inspire personal growth and community connections.

The Community Education Classes and Activities catalog is mailed to area residents quarterly and also available online. We hope you will find a class that interests you. To sign up for a class, please call 507-376-6105. Select link to register online.

We will be closed on Dec. 24, 25 and Jan. 1.

  • Winter Community Education catalog is on its way


    The Community Classes & Activities catalog was sent in the mail this week to 11,039 households.  We hope that everyone will check out the great educational opportunities that are available locally.  Community Education accepts registrations online, in-person, by phone and by mail.  We also have gift certificates available, if you are interested in giving the gift of education to someone you love.

  • Free Transportation to Grow Our Own Summit being coordinated by Community Ed.

    Southwest Initiative Foundation is hosting a Grow Our Own Summit in Marshall on Thursday, November 8.  The event registration fee is $20 and includes a noon meal. During the summit, you’ll learn and be inspired to take action that will benefit youth, as well as your own business, organization, school, community or family.  For more information and to register for the event, you may go to www.swifoundation.org/summit.  

    District 518 Community Education is coordinating free transportation for area resident to the event.  Bus will load at the WHS Student Parking Lot directly across from the District 518 Admin Office at 7:45am. The bus will arrive at 7:30am to load. Bus will return to Worthington at approx. 5pm.

    If you would like to ride the charter bus to the event, call Community Ed at 507-376-6105 to reserve a seat.  Seats will be filled on a first-come, first served basis.  We hope to have a strong representation of Worthington leaders at the summit. 

  • Fall 2018 PASS Classes Offered in Spanish and Karen

    Parents Advocating for Student Success (PASS) classes, designed to help parents become more familiar with the local school system and better understand the importance of their involvement in their child’s educational journey are being offered at West Learning Center, 117 11th Avenue, Worthington. To register, call Adry, ISD 518 Family Liaison, at (507) 370-3682. There is no cost to attend this program. Child care and transportation are available.
    Families of Prairie Elementary students:                               Families of Middle School students:
    Fridays, October 5 to November 30                                         
    Tuesdays, October 2 to November 13
    Karen 9:00 am – 10:30 am                                                           Spanish 11:00 am – 12:30 pm

    Las clases PASS (Padres a Favor del Éxito Académico), diseñadas para ayudar a los padres de familia a familiarizarse más con el sistema escolar local y entender mejor la importancia de su participación en la educación de sus hijos, se ofrecen en la escuela West Learning Center, 117 11th Avenue, Worthington. Para registrarse, llamen a Adry, Enlace Familiar para el Distrito Escolar 518, al (507) 370-3682. Este programa se ofrece sin costo. Hay cuidado de niños y transporte disponible.
