2017 WHS TROJAN BAND CALIFORNIA TRIP SNAPSHOTS

  • The WHS Trojan Band California trip is scheduled for November 21-28, 2017.

  • The WHS Trojan Band accepted an invitation from the Hollywood Christmas Parade Committee to be a featured parade band in the 2017 parade; A BIG THANK YOU goes out to all of the civic service organizations in town as well as the countless citizens of Worthington who helped to fund this trip!! This will be our fourth national parade appearance since 2008. GO TROJANS!!

  • The WHS Trojan Band will be riding Reading Bus Lines out to California; there will be free Wi-Fi available as we travel…Bus stops are planned every 4 ½ hours or so. The expectation is that travelers will get off the bus to stretch, use the bathroom, etc and then get back on the bus at the designated time.

  •  A medium-sized suitcase for one person is suggested. NO coolers along (except medical needs) A Large suitcase shared by two people is appropriate. Please bring a coat on bus.

  • Marching Band students are reminded to pack long black socks, season tshirt and athletic shorts to wear under their band uniforms. 

  • Quiet hours on the buses will be during the overnight time with designated hours from 11pm – 8am in the current time zone of travel.

  • This year’s 2017 Hollywood Christmas Parade will be aired nationally over the CW Network on Fri. December 15, 2017 at 7:00pm Central Time and on Wed. December 22 at 2:00pm on the Hallmark Channel and AFN Network.

  • You can catch the ‘Spirit of Worthington’ Trojan Marching Band’s two parade performances on the Worthington Public Schools page of Facebook: www.facebook.com/ISD518/ at the following times/dates: Friday, Nov. 24 @ approx. 2:45pm Central Time – Disneyland Parade (step off time); Sunday, Nov. 26 @ approx. 9:39pm Central Time – 86th annual Hollywood Christmas Parade appearance (step off time). The FB LIVE! Feed will be brief as it will only include our actual performance due to national parade copyright laws.

  • A suggested amount of spending money to bring along on the trip would be at your discretion but a minimum of $60 for extra ‘on own’ meals on the bus trip out and back is suggested and then after that, any souvenir shopping one might need to do.
