Students who participate in the After School Assistance Program as 8th-graders have the opportunity to pursue a variety of experiential learning opportunities. The five areas that ODYSSEY emphasizes throughout the year are:

5th-grade Kindness Retreat

NCIC sponsors a 5th Grade retreat each year.  Fifth-grade students participate in a Kindness Retreat.  The retreat is facilitated by Youth Frontiers and high school students from each NCIC member school district assist throughout the retreat.  The dates for the 5th-grade Kindness Retreat are October 10th and 11th, 2013.

7th-grade Courage Retreat

NCIC sponsors a 7th Grade retreat each year.  Seventh-grade students participate in a Courage Retreat.  The retreat is facilitated by Youth Frontiers and high school students from each NCIC member school district assist throughout the retreat.  The dates for the 7th-grade Courage Retreat are February 11th and 12th, 2014.

Kids College

Kids College is offered each summer at Minnesota West Community & Technical College.  It is open to students entering grades 5-8.  There is an enrollment fee, but NCIC contributes financial support to the program and provides busing so that students from all NCIC member school districts may participate.  This program is designed to promote student success, college and career exploration and access to opportunities.

2014 Kids College:  July 14th to 17th.  Cost: $50.  Register at MN West.   A limited number of scholarships (half of the fee) are available for students who qualify for free or reduced lunch.  To request one of these scholarships, contact Soom Chandaswang at NCIC.
