7^th Grade Computer Explorations:

The seventh grade students will be completing several projects throughout the quarter. They will be completing a PowerPoint presentation, travel brochure, and designing their own website. We will also be reviewing proper keyboarding techniques, effective practices when searching the Internet, and improving typing speed and accuracy!!! I have made several links for assignments and rubrics so they are easily accessible.

PowerPoint Assignment:

PowerPoint Assignment A PowerPoint presentation that outline the 7^th graders PowerPoint project.

RUBRICS:

PowerPoint Rubric The students will be assessed on their PowerPoint presentation by this rubric I have put together. It is broken down into different categories so the students know what is expected of them.

Travel Brochure Rubric The students’ will be researching their favorite city and creating a travel brochure. The students will be evaluated by this rubric.

Website Rubric Explanation of how the students will be graded on their websites.

6^th Grade Computer Explorations:

The sixth grade students will become familiar with the basic tools of Microsoft Word and get introduced to Microsoft Excel. In addition, we will discuss internet searching and proper keyboarding techniques.

Microsoft Word:

Ø Teaches students how to make a table within Microsoft Word.

Ø Introductory worksheet used to help students become familiar with the tools of Microsoft Word.

Newspaper Project:

The students will be completing a newspaper project at the end of the quarter. They will look at actual newspapers to help them understand what should be in their articles. This is a great review of all the tools of Microsoft Word (bold, underline, italicize, color, font size, font style, columns, pictures, etc.)

Ø Birth Announcement Requirements for the birth article in their newspaper.

Ø Wedding Announcement Requirements for the wedding article in their newspaper.

Ø Sports Story This informs students what should be in their sports article.

Newspaper Rubric This will help me evaluate the students’ ability to work within Microsoft Word.

Internet Activities:

The students will complete several internet activities that will help them become more familiar with searching on the Internet. We will discuss appropriate internet practices and how to web searches and image searches.

Microsoft Excel:

The students will also do a short project in Microsoft Excel. They will come up with their own class survey and make graphs to illustrate their findings.
