School Psychology Resources

 

 

The school psychologist is specifically trained to work with children, from birth to age 21, who have needs that impact their ability to make adequate educational progress. 

 

The School Psychologist provides assessment, counseling, and consultation to children, parents, teachers and staff regarding the prevention and/or intervention for problems or situations which impact the learning of children.

 

  • Consults and advises parents, regular education personnel, special education personnel and administration regarding specific learning/behavior/social problems.  Consults with outside agencies regarding services available. 
  • Conducts intellectual evaluations, observes students, reviews student records, conducts screenings for ADHD, and assists with other types of assessment as needed
  • Coordinates and/or participates in child study staffings, and provides feedback on evaluations
  • Serves as a liaison between school and other agencies. 
  • Completes due process paperwork in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Joins with others in group decisions, committees, etc., leading to specific actions that will enhance education for children with special needs.
  • Conducts in-service trainings on various topics that impact student success.
