The school social worker program is intended to provide early prevention and intervention services to families and children in need of special education services. 

 

School social workers help students to:

-Increase academic success

-Improve relationships

-Cope with difficult and crisis situations

-Develop self-esteem and self-discipline

-Learn problem solving skills

 

School social workers help educators to:

-Provide ongoing emotional and behavioral support to students

-Communicate with families

-Identify and report neglectful situations

-Coordinate community resources

-Eliminate barriers to educational success

 

School social workers help parents to:

-Increase their children’s academic success

-Provide support during crisis situations

-Connect parents with available resources

-A link between home and school

 

School social workers believe: 

-Children have dignity and worth as human beings

-Children learn best when they fell good about themselves

-Attitudes formed during elementary school shape future attitudes toward learning, self, and society
