Seventeen 8th grade students volunteered to be part of an effort to reduce violence in the Middle School.
These peer mediators were trained in listening, procedure and follow-up skills.
They actively participate in mediations throughout the school year and try to help students use conflict as a tool to learn and grow stronger in student relationships.
Peer Mediation celebrates 20 years in the district this year and is coordinated by 5th grade teacher, Rich Besel and trainer Scott Burns.
Mediators work closely with administration, DARE officer, and staff.
