Title I is a program which gives extra support to students needing additional practice in reading and/or math. Prairie Elementary has several teachers working with small groups of children in grades K-3. All students are periodically assessed and the results are used to create groups needing help. After several weeks they may exit the program so new groups of students can be given assistance.
Prairie Elementary Reading Interventionists use the RtI (Response to Intervention) model to identify and work with children who are struggling in reading and writing in grades Kindergarten through Third Grade. The purpose is to ensure each child receives the appropriate instruction in order to be successful. By linking assessment and instruction, the practice of RtI gives educators a data –driven framework to quickly and efficiently respond to learning problems.
