Two Terms Grades 10, 11, 12 Elective
Prerequisite: Physical Science, Algebra I
Recommended: Completion of or concurrently taking Algebra 2
This lab-based course is designed to provide a background necessary for college chemistry. This course will involve laboratory applications, investigations, and mathematical applications of chemical principles. Topics explored include: physical characteristics and molecular composition of gases, reaction energy and kinetics, oxidation-reduction reactions, and an introduction to organic chemistry. Students will plan and perform a chemistry “magic” demonstration show. They will also take a field trip to test their synthesized aspirin in a NMR.
