Music Explorers Festival 2020

Worthington District 518 is excited to offer the Music Explorers Festival (formerly the Festival of the Young Musician) again.

The festival is held every other year in southwest Minnesota. This music festival features a guest clinician and several master teachers who work with the students throughout the day.

Students in grades 4-6 are chosen by their local school music teachers or are members of the Worthington Community Education’s Celebration Chorus.

The Music Explorers Festival will feature outstanding music teachers who will share with the students varied music activities such as percussion, folk dance, orff, ukulele, and many other options.

Vocal music is a key cornerstone and will be a major part of the experience. This is an exploratory type festival that will require little prior preparation by the teacher and students.

During the day the students will learn and experience several aspects of music and then present their accomplishments in a culminating “informance”concert at the end of the day.

Registration cost is $20 per student (non-refundable) to cover the day’s sessions, materials, snack and lunch.

Contact your music teacher and let them know of your interest in this event. Home-schooled students are also welcome to attend.

The festival will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Prairie Elementary in Worthington. Partial funding is provided by Nobles County Integration Collaborative.
