About Our Teachers

Ms. Rose Bautista

Hello families and friends of ISD 518! I am Rose Bautista, your Spanish interpreter and translator at Worthington Middle School. I started this position during the 2016-2017 school year and it has been a great experience. I am a qualified interpreter in health care, education, and community services by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.

I was born in Mexico and grew up in South Texas where I graduated from high school. I relocated to Minnesota fourteen years ago and love the changes of the seasons in this beautiful state.Recently, I returned to school and began working on the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum to study Cultural Anthropology. I really enjoy working with individuals of diverse backgrounds and being an interpreter gives me that opportunity. Even though at first it may seem like all Spanish speakers share the same culture, the only thing that is completely alike is the language. We all have different customs, foods, music, holidays, religious practices, nationalities, accents, and traditions, but Spanish is still the one thing that links all Hispanics together.

It is rewarding to help Hispanic families navigate the American health and education system, as I too can relate to the challenges of these experiences. Being a strong advocate for education, I find this is a great opportunity to increase families’ awareness of the importance of their children finishing school. Education sets you free giving you the chance to choose where you want to work, not only where you can work–it expands your options. Many old thoughts and prejudices that harm our society can also only be eradicated through education as it enables us to open our minds to new ways of thinking. One of the best ways to achieve this goal is for parents to become involved in their children’s education.

I encourage caregivers/parents to participate in their children’s academic experience by keeping in contact with their teachers, counselors, principals, and everyone that is part of our school district staff. By working as a team, we are showing our kids we are dedicated to their success. Nothing compares to working with children. The energy they bring to the workplace is positive and uplifting. I look forward to and am excited about serving our families in our school district.
