About Our Teachers

Mrs. Craun

My name is Mrs. Craun. I began my career in District 518 at the Area Learning Center teaching Science and Reading. For the past twelve years I have taught Science, English, and Reading at the Middle School. My current assignment is Middle School 6th grade Physical Science and Reading.
My Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees were earned from Minnesota State University, Mankato. In addition, I have completed my K-12 Reading Certification from the University of Sioux Falls. My most recent educational opportunity has been to receive inquire training at the San Francisco Exploratorium. Some of the many teaching experiences I have had are Gifted and Talented Coordinator, Public Health Educator, Department of Education HIV/AIDS Educator, Prairie Arts Program Director, and Newspapers In Education facilitator.
Teaching at the Worthington Middle School is my favorite assignment. I enjoy the students’ enthusiasm and willingness to learn. My role as ‘a guide on the side, not a sage on the stage’ provides interesting challenges every day.
During my time outside of school I enjoy reading nonfiction, playing hand bells and traveling anywhere.

Ms. Darling

I have been at WMS for many years and love teaching 8th grade. Currently I am teaching Global Studies which focuses not only on physical geography, but the relationships between countries and cultures. I also offer a trip to Washington DC in the spring of the year for 8th graders who are interested. This is a non-school sponsored trip and totally optional. I work with a company in DC and it is a great opportunity for kids to see civics in action in our nation’s capital.

Mr. Prunty

I was born and raised in Austin, Minnesota where I graduated from high school in 1990. I then attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa majoring in mathematics and secondary education. After graduating in 1994, I was hired by the Worthington school district to teach math classes at the high school and middle school. I spent the first three years traveling between buildings before settling in at the middle school as an 8th grade math teacher. I have been teaching 8th graders ever since.

I enjoy the challenges that come along with being a middle school teacher and love working with kids. I have been very fortunate to be a part of a school district with caring staff members and enthusiastic students.

The last three years I taught ELl students in Wisconsin. I love teaching students because I get to learn so much from them, as they do from me! I love to travel and have had the opportunity to study abroad in Fiji and visit other places such as Germany, Austria, France, and Great Britain. I am also the dance team coach and love that I get to continue to do something that I so dearly love.
