Literacy Volunteers

District 518 Literacy Volunteers

District 518 Literacy Volunteers are an important part of the learning process for adult learners in the Adult Basic Education program. Volunteers assist teachers in our ESL, GED, and Citizenship classes by leading small group and one-on-one activities. The effect that volunteers have is great, providing personalized assistance to students to help them achieve their desired goals, whether that is improved reading and writing proficiency, preparing for their United States citizenship exam, or acquiring their GED.

Volunteer assignments are available morning, afternoon, and evening, Monday through Thursday. Schedules are flexible, and volunteers are able to contribute however much time their schedules allow.
