Communication Arts

The Language Arts Department at the Learning Center offers a variety of courses that expose students to English Literature, Composition, and Speech with the goal that all students will learn to be proficient communicators and readers.

Students are required to take eight classes in Language Arts in order to graduate from the Learning Center. Six of these classes are required courses, which have been developed to help students build a strong foundation in English. The two other courses are electives giving students an option in their schedules. The six required classes are: Freshman Literature, Freshman Composition, Sophomore Composition and Literature, Sophomore Communications, American Authors A, and American Authors B. The current electives offered are: Contemporary Literature, Multicultural Literature, and Utopian Literature.
