2022 Minnesota Student Survey
District 518 will be participating in the 2022 Minnesota Student Survey (MSS) 2022. The tentative time frame for this survey is January 18 through June 10 which is a large testing window. Each building will be communicating to parents when the actual survey dates are scheduled. The MSS is one of the longest running youth surveys in the nation. This survey is an anonymous statewide school-based survey conducted to gain insights into the world of students and their experiences. This survey will be given to our students in grades 5, 8, 9, and 11. The survey is voluntary and is not a requirement to participate. Parents can choose not to have their children participate and students themselves can decide not to take the survey. You would need to notify your child’s school of this decision prior to the survey being conducted.
Why is the survey important?
The MSS is the primary source of comprehensive data on youth at the state, county and local level in Minnesota and is the only consistent source of statewide data on the health and well-being of youth from smaller population groups, such as racial or ethnic groups. It provides valuable information about issues vital to the health, safety, and academic success of young people. The survey results have proven to be a dynamic vehicle in bringing the youth voice into decisions made by youth programs, schools, communities, and state agencies. It is also important in securing grant funding, federal and state funding, and to assist our local community and schools.

El distrito 518 participará en la encuesta estudiantil de Minnesota del año 2022(MSS). Las fechas probables de esta encuesta serán del 18 de enero al 10 de junio, que es un tiempo de pruebas grande. Si usted no quiere que su estudiante participe, llame a la escuela del estudiante y avísele su decisión antes que se haga la encuesta.
¿Por qué esta encuesta es importante?
La encuesta MSS es la fuente primordial de información exhaustiva sobre los jóvenes a nivel estatal, de condado y local en Minnesota, es la única fuente consistente de datos a nivel estatal en salud y bienestar de jóvenes de grupos pequeños demográficos, como grupos raciales y étnicos. La encuesta proporciona información valiosa sobre asuntos importantes como salud, seguridad y exitoso académico de los jóvenes. Los resultados de la encuesta han probado ser un vehículo dinámico para llevar las voces de los jóvenes a las decisiones que toman los programas juveniles, escuelas, comités y agencias estatales.
