Meal Pickup – Start of 2020-2021 School Year

Independent School District 518 is excited to have the opportunity to provide lunches for our students during this very challenging time. We have selected our top sellers that your students have grown to love to help bring a little piece of school to them while they are at home. The menus can be found on the ISD 518 website under the Parents/Students icon and by selecting “Menus”. They are the same items for all students.

The process for picking up meals is simple! Your family household will be assigned a site. The sites are assigned by family name and will be as follows:

  • A – G Prairie Elementary front door
  • H – M Worthington Middle School front door
  • N – Z Worthington High School front door

Times your family may pick up meals at the designated site are:

  • 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
  • 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Pick up of meals will begin Tuesday, September 8th with the following weeks’ meals available for pickup on Monday of each week.

We will make every effort to accommodate dietary restrictions provided we have a signed Physician statement specifying what needs to be avoided and what we can safely substitute on file. Unfortunately, we cannot honor special requests/preferences. The physician statement form can be obtained from the school nurse in each building.

The meals have been designated to meet the requirements of the National School Lunch Program and all items on the menu will be provided. No adult meals will be available through this program. All meals will be charged to your student’s account according to the status (free, reduced, or full pay). If you have not turned in your free/reduced lunch application for this school year, please submit it as soon as possible.

We may occasionally need to make substitutions due to product shortages, but we will do our best to avoid changes to the menu.

The meal service program may switch to the Summer Food Service program where all meals will be served for free. We will inform you if this happens.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact me directly at (507) 727-1184 or by email at deeann.crall@isd518.net.

  • A – G Prairie Elementary- puerta principal
  • H – M Worthington Middle School- puerta principal
  •  N – Z Worthington High School- puerta principal

Horario para pasar a buscar la comida

  • 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
  • 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Atentamente,

ISD 518 School Board approved a request to establish no bussing zone for each school building within the district

Due to COVID-19 related guidelines and restrictions from the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, buses in District 518 will be running with 50% capacity limits along with other requirements such as frequent cleaning and the requirement of all passengers must wear face masks. With buses running at a reduced capacity, the district and Bud’s Bus Service have worked to find solutions to these transport limitations.

To address busing challenges, the ISD 518 School Board has approved a request from Bud’s Bussing Service to establish a no bussing zone for each of the school buildings within the district. No transportation will be offered for students of that school within the no bussing zone. The no bussing zones for Worthington Middle School, Worthington High School, and the Learning Center were determined with safe pedestrian and bicycle transport in mind, allowing for easy routes for students to reach their school buildings. Families with Prairie Elementary students in the no bussing zone must arrange transport for their students. District 518 understands this is not ideal for all students, but the change is necessary to proceed with a safe 2020-2021 school year.

Worthington High School has operated with a one mile no bussing zone and will continue this practice. The Learning Center and Worthington Middle School will now have a one-mile no bussing zone. Prairie Elementary will have a half-mile no bussing zone. Each building’s no busing zone only affect students who attend that building.

If you have further questions, please contact Bud’s Bus Service at (507) 372-5552.

2020 High School/Middle School Athletic Fall Season Information

Independent School District 518
ANNOUNCEMENT FROM ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR JOSH DALE

MSHSL MOVES FORWARD WITH SOCCER, CROSS COUNTY, AND GIRLS TENNIS, DELAYS FOOTBALL AND VOLLEYBALL COMPETITION

On Tuesday, August 4th, the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) made the decision to move forward with the fall sports season for girls and boys soccer, girls and boys cross country, and girls tennis.  Football and volleyball competition seasons have been moved to mid-spring, creating a fourth sports season.  Practices this fall for football and volleyball will be allowed with a start date that is yet to be determined.  All fall season activities will have a reduced season in number of weeks and contests.  New schedules for soccer, cross country, and girl’s tennis will be released in the near future. District 518 is looking into the possibility of holding middle school intramural volleyball and football seasons.

The athletic eligibility meeting scheduled for Monday, August 10th has been cancelled due to the large number of athletes and parents who would attend and District 518’s observation of social distancing practices.  Teams will meet individually to review rules and guidelines that would normally be addressed at the eligibility meeting.

Each athlete’s involvement in extracurricular activities is voluntary and is a decision made by the athlete and their family.  The MSHSL and District 518 will be implementing guidelines for each activity to provide the safest environment possible.

The MSHSL extended expiring physicals to the end of the 2020-2021 season.  District 518, however, recommends all students with expiring physicals to update their sports physicals.  All athletes who do not have a physical on file or have underlying health issues must receive a physical to be allowed to compete in events or practice.

All athletes must complete a participation form before they are allowed to compete in events or practice.  This form can be found on our district website, www.isd518.net, under activities, then athletics, and click on “Participation Form” in the athletic form tab (or click here).  These forms can be turned into the middle school or high school office.

The recent actions taken by the MSHSL are unprecedented in the history of the league.  We appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we continue to work with the MSHSL to best provide a meaningful and safe experience in all activities during the 2020-2021 school year.

If you have any questions, please contact ISD 518’s Activities Director Mr. Josh Dale
by phone at (507) 376-6121 or by email at josh.dale@isd518.net
