Post-Secondary Enrollment Option Informational Session

Do you want to learn about the opportunity for your child to earn college credit in high school? Worthington High School offers students the chance to take college classes through Post-Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO). This is offered to incoming juniors in the top 1/3 of their class and seniors in the top ½ of their class. Students, who have been successful in concurrent enrollment classes also may do these. Interested students and parents are required to attend an informational session to learn about PSEO. There will be a PSEO meeting during parent/teacher conferences on February 15th at 3:00, 4:00, and 5:00 pm in the media center. There will be a translator for Spanish, Tigrinya, Karen, and Amharic. Tigrinya and Amharic will be at the 5:00 time. Karen interpreter will be available at 4:00.

¿Quiere enterarse de la oportunidad que tiene su estudiante de obtener crédito universitario mientras está cursando estudios de escuela secundaria? La escuela secundaria (High School) de Worthington ofrece a los estudiantes la oportunidad de tomar clases universitaria por medio del plan de estudios opción postsecundaria (PSEO por sus siglas en inglés). Esto se ofrece a los estudiantes que cursarán el 11º grado y que se desempeñan con excelencia, que pertenecen al 1/3 de estudiantes mejor desempeñados en sus clases y a los estudiantes del 12º grado que mejor se desempeñan y que se colocan en la ½ de los mejores desempeñados en su promoción. Aquellos estudiantes que han tenido éxitos en matrículas de un programa de clases simultáneo también pueden participar de PSEO. A los estudiantes y padres de familia interesados en el programa PSEO se les pide que asistan a la reunión de información respecto a este programa. Esta reunión será durante la reunión de padres de familia el 15 de febrero a las 3:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. y 5:00 p.m., en la bibliooteca y habrá la colaboración de un intérprete.

With the help of KM Graphics we are able to design apparel and have an easy online ordering process. Our current sale runs today, Jan 28  through February 7 and can be found by visiting the link below.

Dash-for-Cash January 21

Worthington Sports Boosters Club is happy to announce that First State Bank Southwest is sponsoring a Dash-for-Cash at the girls basketball game against Pipestone this Friday, January 21.  Get your chance at dashing for up to $100 over the course of 60 seconds!  Pay $1.00 per ticket at the First State Bank Southwest table in the lobby for your chance to be drawn.  We hope to see you there!

Sports Boosters Club Scholarship

The Worthington ISD 518 Sports Boosters Club is proud to support young student athletes in pursuing the combination of collegiate athletic and academic pursuits.  All student athletes who have secured future athletic participation on the collegiate level are eligible to apply regardless of the sport(s) they participate in. The Sports Boosters will extend two $500.00 scholarships to Senior student athletes who exemplify effort, dedication, commitment and spirit to their team, school, and community. To pick up an application, please stop in the WHS Counselor’s Office. Deadline May 1, 2022

Alumni Orchestra Day is Back at WHS

Varsity Strings @ 12-12:30pm   WHS Orchestra @ 12:45-1:15pm

Attention WHS Orchestra Alumni: tune your strings, rosin your bows and plan to join us at WHS for our tradition of playing sounds of the season!

Join us at 11:45am to play with Varsity Strings and at 12:30pm to play with WHS Orchestra.  Unpack your instruments in the orchestra room then join us for the performance by the main office.

Spread the word to other WHS Orchestra musicians and I look forward to seeing you soon!  Cello or bass players, let me know if you need to use a school instrument.
