Lyle Gerdes – WHS Class of 1960

Track – Two year State Participant in Discus & Shot; School record in discus & shot, Conference Champ, District Champ, Region Champ, State Champ

Academics & Activities – National Honor Society; Homecoming King; President of Trojannaires

College – University of North Dakota; participated in football and track; Masters Degree in 1972

Lyle was killed in an automobile accident one day before his 30th birthday on July 21, 1972. He was inducted into the Trojan Hall of Fame in 1989.

Tim Leiser – WHS Class of 1977

College – St. John’s Collegeville, BS in Social Work, Football for John Gigliardi as freshman, Baseball, 3 year starter, All Conference as a senior; Regis University, Denver, Masters Degree in Non-Profit Management 2008

Other – Coached hi son’s baseball team to a State Championship title for Minnesota Babe Ruth 2000; played amateur baseball for Richmond Royals from 1985-1998 with five State Tournament appearances

Tim celebrated his 25th anniversary with his wife, Judy, who is a kindergarten teacher.  They have 4 children: Matt, Ryan, Megan, and Derek.  The family lives in Cold Springs.  Tim currently has been the manager for Catholic Charities Day Programs for Children and Families Mental Health Services for 26 years. He was inducted into the Trojan Hall of Fame in 2007.

Jen is currently in living in Burnsville with her husband, Jon, and their 2 children, Maris and Charlie. She was inducted into the Trojan Hall of Fame in 2007.

Professional Baseball –  13th Round selection by the Chicago White Sox in 1994 draft, Played 3 years in the White Sox organization at various levels

Brian is married to Angela (Donovan).  They have a daughter, Taylor.  Brian is currently living in Sioux City where he is the baseball coach and 9th grade basketball coach at Sioux City North High School. He was inducted into the Trojan Hall of Fame in 2007.

Dave taught 3rd grade in Willmar for 34 years. He coached Junior High football, boys tennis, and girls tennis. Dave retired in 2005 and now substitutes.  Dave and his wife, Deb, of 36 years continue to live in Willmar. They have two children and 3 grandchildren. He was inducted into the Trojan Hall of Fame in 2006.

Tom Nystrom – WHS Class of 1949

Football – three time letter winner; member of undefeated Conference Champs (’46 & ’47)

Baseball – three time letter winner (’47, ’48, ’49)

College – Worthington Junior College 50-52; Football and Basketball; Navy Flight School 52-53, Commissioned into the US Marine Corps as a fighter pilot, flying in Hawaii, Korea, and Japan. Also served in the reserve for 23 years; University of Minnesota 56-59; Majoring in Physics

Bio
Tom worked the 3M Company in St. Paul from 1959-1975 and then with Global Thermoelectric in Bassano, Alberta, Canada until 1982. He then worked for Teledyne Energy System in Baltimore until he retired in 1995 but worked as a consult for another 9 years. He and his wife are now retired and living in Monkton, MD.  They  have 2 daughters, one son, and 6 grandchildren. He was inducted into the Trojan Hall of Fame in 2006.

Teresa lives in Lakefield with her daughter Ashley. She works as a Phlebotomist at Avera. She was inducted into the Trojan Hall of Fame in 2006.
