About Our Translator

Mrs. Ambrossi

My name is Patricia Ambrossi, I’m one of the three interpreters/translators employed by the School District 518. I have been working for the School District for 10 years, 8 years in my present position as an interpreter, and 2 years as a Para-professional at the Middle School at the ESL classroom. I was born in Mexico City and grew up in Oaxaca, located by the Pacific Ocean. I came to the USA in 1982 after completing my high school education to live with my brother’s family. I attended school to learn English as a second language, after that I obtained my X-Ray and dental assistant license in California where I worked as a Dental Assistant for over 15 years.

I moved to Minnesota in 1999 with my husband and three children. We settled in Bigelow were we have lived up to the present time. I attended Minnesota West Technical College in Worthington and obtained my Liberal Arts Diploma. I have completed all major college courses and workshops for professional interpreting through the University of Minnesota and the Department of Education. I also completed National Accredited Training TCI (Health, Education and Human Services). I took the Language assessments in English and Spanish offered by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, receiving advance and superior rating from the council.

I really enjoy working as an interpreter, I feel that some how, I’m helping parents, teachers, students and the community to communicate and have a better understanding and knowledge of Latin American people. The Hispanic community is very diverse. In Worthington we have people from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Argentina, Ecuador, Panama, Mexico, and other Latin American countries. All of us share one language “ Spanish”, but we all have very different customs, culture, and ethnic backgrounds. Our job as an Interpreter/Translator is to preserve the essence of communication and facilitate an equal opportunity to express everyone’s wants and needs.

I feel proud and it’s a privilege to be part of the educational team of District 518 here in Worthington.
