About Our Translator
Ms. Elvia Brinks
My name is Elvia Brinks, and I am a native Spanish speaker. I am from Guatemala City and moved to the US in 2015 to study English for “two years”. In the same year, I met my husband. We have 2 beautiful daughters. While I was a stay home mom full time, I went to Minnesota West Community College to take my Community Interpreter Certification and I started to work with the District 518 in 2021 as an Interpreter On Call. In the beginning of 2023, I started to work with the Early Childhood Special Education Team (ECSE) as an interpreter. Now, I’m the interpreter/translator of Prairie Elementary School.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Public relations, and being an interpreter wasn’t in my plans, but you never know where life can lead you. As of now, I love what I do, and having the privilege of speaking 3 languages and being able to help others with the barrier of languages is an honor.
