Independent School District 518 Will Be Pausing Extra-Curricular Activities in the District for Four Weeks

Independent School District 518 will be pausing extra-curricular activities in the district for four weeks in accordance with Minnesota Emergency Executive Order 20-99 issued by Governor Tim Walz. This pause also results in the ending of the football and volleyball seasons. Middle school extra-curricular activities are also affected by this order. Winter activities will be rescheduled to the fullest extent possible as organized by the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) and the Big South Conference.

Emergency Executive Order 20-99 places restrictions on all organized youth and high school sports. These restrictions involve athletics and fine arts programs that are either currently taking place or are scheduled to begin. As a result of the order, MSHSL has stated that the end of football and volleyball seasons is November 20. The order also mandates that the district weight room may not be utilized by extra-curricular activity groups during the activities pause.

Winter extra-curricular activities will have their schedules altered by MSHSL and the Big South Conference to begin when it is deemed safe and appropriate to do so. District 518 will continue to support activities and all involved students in all ways possible during this pause period and throughout the rescheduling process. More information will be released as the rescheduling process takes place.

During the four week pause, the Worthington High School and Worthington Middle School offices will continue to accept paperwork and fees for activities. To expedite safe and responsible participation in winter activities following the pause, please continue to submit these for students as soon as possible. The ISD 518 activities supports MSHSL and the Big South Conference in planning for a safe return to play and performance.
