The Latino American Story
This course traces the journey of Latinos in the Western Hemisphere from pre-Columbian times to the present. It begins by examing Latin America as a place, then follows the chronological evolution of Latin American peoples from the Pre-Colmbian era, to Spain, Mexico, the Carribbean, and the countries of Central and South America In the process, we will gain a deeper understanding of Latino national identities, traditions, arts, music, and cultures. Our journey’s end will examine immigration into and within the United States, and the diversity and cultural complexities created as a result of the Latino American Story.
