Community Education publishes a quarterly catalog with a wide variety of enrichment programs designed for people of all ages.  The catalog is also a resource of information about activities hosted by other local non-profit organizations.

Registration Information

Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

 Click on the link highlighted in red below to register securely and immediately on the internet. We accept VISA, Master Card and Discover.  If you use our online registration system, you may request an e-mail reminder prior to start of the class.

Mail your registration form with check, money order or credit/debit card information to:

Call in your registration with payment information to (507) 376-6105.  A call is registered the same as the current day’s mail. All phone registrations must be paid for at the time of registration with VISA, Master Card, Discover card or debit card.

People may come to the Community Education office at the West Learning Center, 117 Eleventh Avenue, Room 134, to register in person.

If there is room in a class, an individual may register for a class at the door.  A $5 processing fee will be added to the price of the class for all registrations made the day of the class or thereafter. 

Classes are filled on a first-paid, first-served basis.  Payments must accompany registrations for the enrollment to be complete. Registrations received without a payment will be put on hold until the payment is received.  A $5 processing fee will be charged for registrations received on the day the class begins or later.  Registrations must be completed before the second session of a class is held, in order to participate in a class.

You are registered for a class unless we notify you otherwise. You will be notified if your choice is not available. Occasionally a class may fill as your registration is being processed. Should this happen, you will receive a personal call from us.

Photo and Video Useage

District 518 Community Education and its representatives may take photos or video images of participants in their classes/activities.  These images can be used for the District 518 Community Education Classes & Activities catalog, webpages, social media or other promotions.  If you do not want your or your child's photo used for such purposes, please visit our webpage to complete the Denial of Photo Use form.  Completed forms may be mailed to District 518 Community Education, 117 11th Avenue, Suite 3, Worthington, MN  56187.

Fall 2018 PASS Classes Offered in Spanish and Karen

Parents Advocating for Student Success (PASS) classes, designed to help parents become more familiar with the local school system and better understand the importance of their involvement in their child’s educational journey are being offered at West Learning Center, 117 11th Avenue, Worthington. To register, call Adry, ISD 518 Family Liaison, at (507) 370-3682. There is no cost to attend this program. Child care and transportation are available.

Las clases PASS (Padres a Favor del Éxito Académico), diseñadas para ayudar a los padres de familia a familiarizarse más con el sistema escolar local y entender mejor la importancia de su participación en la educación de sus hijos, se ofrecen en la escuela West Learning Center, 117 11th Avenue, Worthington. Substitute Teacher & Paraprofessional Orientation

Once again, we are offering a Substitute Teacher & Paraprofessional Orientation on Monday, August 13 at Prairie Elementary, Room #142, 9:00-10:30 a.m. Discover what is involved in a typical day of substituting by attending. We will provide you with relevant information about the application process, duties, expectations, scheduling, and wages. Those who have a bachelor's degree in any field may apply for a Minnesota Tier I teacher license. There is a fee to obtain this license. All paraprofessional applicants are required to have a high school diploma or GED. Register by calling the Community Education office at 507-376-6105 or online at www.isd518.net/enrichment. On-Call Interpreter Training

This training will meet Monday, August 13 at Prairie Elementary, Room #142. Herminio Nunez Lopez, District 518 Interpreter, will provide training and answer questions. Topics include ethics of interpreting, professional expectations and education terminology. Carmen Johnson, ISD 518 Human Resource Coordinator, will explain the hiring and reimbursement/payroll processes. New interpreters are expected to attend from 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Interpreters currently on the list will meet from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED. Please bring your Social Security card and photo ID with you. The school district has a high demand for languages other than Spanish. Music, Music, Music!

If you are interested in singing or learning to play guitar or drums, Community Education is offering weekly sessions each month this summer. You may be a novice or expert, may simply enjoy music or wish to improve and grow as a performer, whatever your reason our trained instructors will work one-on-one with you, in various genres of music. Trips for Everyone!

Take a break this summer and let Community Education do the driving to a wonderful destination, with a fun-filled day planned just for your enjoyment! We have trips for all ages and interests, including Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Lauritzen Gardens, Minnesota Twins game, Disney’s “Newsies” at the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre, Senior Day at the Minnesota State Fair and the Renaissance Festival. VINTAGE CAMP (Grades 3-6)

Once again, we are offering classes of vintage crafts and skills, such as cooking, painting, sewing, building, music and more. This camp will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, July 9, 10, and 12, from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm., at the Worthington Middle School. Children will choose one morning and one afternoon project to complete. Classes are limited to 10 students. The $60 fee includes project materials and lunch for all three days. Parents Advocating for Student Success (PASS) Update

The months of April and May concluded with graduation ceremonies for four PASS classes, Karen Prairie Elementary Phase I, Spanish Prairie Elementary Phase II, Karen WMS Phase I, and Spanish WMS Phase II.  A total of 30 parents participated in these classes, with 22 completing the requirements for graduation.

It is our pledge to provide you, our customer with a gratifying experience through your participation in our classes. Because we have confidence in the quality of our product, the Community Education Advisory Council and staff are prepared to offer you a money back guarantee.
