Fundamentals of Music
One Term Grades 11, 12 Elective
Prerequisite: Experience in a performance ensemble (band, choir, orchestra) and/or basic proficiency in music notation. See a WHS music instructor if you have questions about your qualifications.
Fundamentals of Music is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for students interested in pursuing music after high school. This course is also a great option for students who enjoy song writing or are interested in learning more about music theory. Fundamentals of Music allows students to explore basic chord structure and song writing rules, learn about song forms, and fine tune their listening skills. Skills learned in this class are applicable to both traditional and contemporary song writing. Students who take this course will also be well prepared to enter post-secondary music programs.
