Concert Choir A & B, C & D
Four Terms Grades 10,11,12 Elective
Prerequisite: Successful completion of the choir curriculum at WHS in VARSITY CHOIR, or by audition, or by choir director’s approval.
Concert Choir is open by audition to all students in grades 10-12. Concert Choir rehearses daily with individual lessons and sectionals required as part of the course. This ensemble performs four annual concerts featuring a wide variety of intermediate and advanced choral music. Additionally, this ensemble is frequently selected to perform at state and regional festivals and conferences. Performances take place outside the school day, and they are part of the graded requirements of the class. Additionally, students may be expected to do some individual practice outside of class. Members of the Concert Choir will continue building and refining good choral skills and build understanding through listening and critiquing our performances. Additional opportunities to work with guest clinicians, audition for state and regional honor choirs and Minnesota All State Choir, participate in select ensembles and solo and ensemble contest, and attend professional concerts and musicals will be offered. Additionally, students in Concert Choir will have the opportunity to earn a Letter A
Concert Choir / WHS Orchestra A, B, C, D
Four Terms Concert 10, 11, 12 Elective
The Concert Choir/WHS Orchestra option allows students to participate in BOTH Concert Choir and WHS Orchestra during the same class period. Students selecting this option will rotate between the two ensembles every other day. Students selecting this option will be responsible for meeting the performance and curriculum requirements of both ensembles while splitting their time between the two rehearsals. As a result, some independent practice will be required.
