Hispanic American Literature
One Term Grades 10, 11, 12 Elective
Offered every other year, next offered 2025-2026. This class alternates with Asian American Lit
This course explores Hispanic American culture and heritage through literature written by and about people of Hispanic ancestry. Writing and discussion topics will include the Hispanic American experience, immigration, politics, folklore, and cross-culture relations. Students will read the novels The House on Mango Street and We Are Not from Here, in addition to reading short stories, watching films, and studying biographies of significant people of Hispanic ancestry.
