Hispanic American Literature
One Term Grades 10, 11, 12 Elective

This course explores Hispanic-American culture and heritage through literature written by Hispanic-American authors, including Sandra Cisneros, Gary Sota, Jose Marti and Judith Oritz Cofer. Writing and discussion topics will include the Hispanic-American experience, immigration, politics, folklore, and cross-culture relations. The course textbook will be Hispanic-American Literature: An Anthology. Students will have an opportunity to read one independent novel by a Hispanic American author. Writing will also include at least one research paper.
