AP Literature A & B
Two Terms Grade 11 & 12 Required
Fulfills the English 11 A & B credit requirements.
This is a college prep survey course and will cover significant authors from the 19th and 20th centuries in American literature and culture. Emphasis will be placed on the American Renaissance and the American Dream. Students will read a 19th century classic novel. Writing will be in response to literature and will stress pre-college writing skills. In addition, this course will prepare students for the Advanced Placement Test in English Literature/Composition. Students will do college level work, using the textbook Sound and Sense, read a collegiate level novel, and short fiction. Writing assignments will focus on analysis and will prepare students for the AP test.
