Food Science and Fitness

Did you know you could get paid to play with your food? This is a fun nutrition and food science course that combines information on food science, the nutritional needs throughout the lifecycle, and the need for daily activity to maintain a healthy lifestyle. You will enjoy learning about food science by experimenting in lab with fats, carbohydrates (sugars and starches), proteins, study nutrient related health issues (Diabetes, Celiac Disease, nutrition for the athlete), latest diets, “phood,” probiotics, prebiotics, chemical compounds, molecular gastronomy, facts and fiction about information in the media, and exercise programs for a variety of needs. We cover information or have speakers on being a Food Scientist, Dietitian, Massage Therapist, and see what product development is all about.
